Did Shakespeare toke it?
« on: September 06, 2014, 02:19:48 am »
Quote
Why is my verse so barren of new pride?
So far from variation or quick change?
Why with the time do I not glance aside
To new-found methods and to compounds strange?
Why write I still all one, ever the same,
And keep invention in a noted weed,

That every word doth almost tell my name,
Showing their birth and where they did proceed?
O, know, sweet love, I always write of you,
And you and love are still my argument;
So all my best is dressing old words new,
Spending again what is already spent:
For as the sun is daily new and old,
So is my love still telling what is told.

I think so

I think what he is saying here is that he could do a bunch of gnarly drugs to try to come up with some good stuff or he could keep smoking weed all day everyday and ripping off other people - er I mean gaining new inspiration from old material. neurogenesis brah.

Was opium prevalent around that time in England? I assume most writers between the 1700's and early 1900's were on opium, but I am not sure about Shakespeare's time.

See: the opium wars

Tobacco and opium were most definitely known of by the 1500s, and England did a lot of opium trade. they also picked up other things like spices and incense which also have psychotropic properties (nutmeg, myrrh, etc).

and tbh the phoenicians had most likely travelled most of the world and established trade with more cultures than would seem possible a thousand or more years before christ. they've historically been the true illuminati with knowledge and wisdom gathered around the world and curated over thousand of years.

FACT: weed cures cancer

Cure? Bullshit.

The word hyperbole springs to mind.

FACT: ancient people have always smoked that dank stuff thats how they came up with things like electromagnets...

Since when were the 1800's reclassified as 'ancient' times?

....and computerz

You mean an... abacus? Not sure what the connection with weed is there.

FACT: all the greatest scientists blaze it, even Mozart smoked weed!

1) I doubt it. Weed doesn't make you any smarter. It makes you feel relaxed about the fact that you stink like shit from 50ft away.

2) Mozart wasn't a scientist. He was dead by the age of 35.

What the fuck are you even trying to say? You're saying I do nothing? lol I'm gay because I don't smoke weed? Pretty sure gay means something else....as for growing up? LOL

You can't even follow a simple argument. Time for you to grow up and stop smoking all day every day.
