Trans 4-Methylaminorex via Potassium Cyanate

Chemicals:
28.2 g (0.15 moles) (+/-) norephedrine-HCl. NOTE: (+/-) norephedrine-HCl and (+/-) norspeudoephedrine all fall under the rubric of PPA. You want norephedrine, not norspeudoephedrine.
12.0 g potassium cyanate (KOCN)
172 ml 2M hydrochloric acid (HCl)
20% sodium carbonate (Na2CO3)
Dichloromethane (DCM)
Distilled water (dH2O)

Equipment:
500 ml flat bottom flask
Magnetic hotplate with stir bar
Thermometer

Put 28.2 g PPA-HCl in about 150 ml dH2O in your 500 ml Erlenmeyer. It should all dissolve easily. Next add 12.0 g KOCN and magnetically stir. About 75% of the KOCN should dissolve readily. Reflux the mixture directly on your hotplate. Hotplate should just be hot enough to boil your mixture. At about 35 deg C, all the KOCN should dissolve. Reflux for about 2.5 hours, then allow to cool to room temp. First you should notice a clear oil precipitating to the top. Further cooling will precipitate white flakes on the bottom. Place the flask in your freezer for about ½ hour or until temp drops to 5 deg C. Pour the solution into a pyrex dish and slowly evaporate over low heat. Do not evaporate completely. Next, place the solution back in your washed Erlenmeyer and add about 275 ml dH2O. It should dissolve slightly. Magnetically stir and begin heating the solution. Add 172 ml of 2M HCl and continue stirring and heating until just boiling. At about 50-60 deg C the white solution should turn clear again. Reflux again for about 2.5 hours magnetically stirring the whole time. Allow to cool to room temp. White powder will appear.

Wash the solution 3 times with a small amount of DCM. Isolate the water phase and basify it with your 20% Na2CO3 until no more white powder precipitates. Gravity filter the white powder and allow to dry at room temp with a fan or in an oven at low temp. Your yield should be about 15.5 g (+/-) trans 4-MAR freebase. [Forms Hcl salt readily.]

The most important piece of information to know here is that the molecular weight (mw) of a chemical is the weight that contains a specific number of molecules of that said chemical. For basic elements, the molecular weight is found on the periodic table. Here is a periodic table with molecular weights of basic elements:

Example: Iodine & Iodine Crystals

Take Iodine (I) for example. The molecular weight shown on the periodic table for an Iodine atom is 126.90 (it's near the bottom of the green section). That means that 1 mole of Iodine atoms weighs 126.90 grams on Earth.

What does this mean? It means there are 6.02214199 × 10^23 iodine atoms in 126.90 grams (1 mole) of iodine atoms. I would write the number out, but there would be 23 digits after the number 6. BTW that number is called Avogadro's Number.

There is a catch. Iodine doesn't come as single atoms. Iodine crystals are actually a molecule made from (2) Iodine atoms. That's why the formula for Iodine crystals is I2. So if there are (2) atoms of Iodine in (1) Iodine molecule, then the molecular weight of I2 (Iodine crystals) is:

126.90 x 2 = 253.80 g


That means 1 mole of I2 (Iodine crystals) weighs 253.80 grams. That also means that there are 6.02214199 × 10^23 molecules of I2 in 253.80 grams of Iodine crystals.

Why is this useful? You can calculate the number of moles in a given weight of a chemical. If you have 100 g of iodine, you can calculate the number of moles like this:

100g I2 / 253.80 g per mole I2 = 0.394 moles of I2

Example: Hydriodic Acid - 57% HI

This periodic table can also be used to calculate the molecular weight (grams per mole) of any molecule. Take HI (Hydriodic Acid), for example. You can see from the formula that (1) molecule of Hydriodic Acid is made up of (1) atom of Hydrogen (H) and (1) atom of Iodine (I). You can look up the induvidual molecular weights for Hydrogen and Iodine on the periodic table. Here they are:

M.W. of Hydrogen = 1.0079 g
M.W. of Iodine = 126.90 g


To calculate the molecular weight of HI, the weights of the two atoms are simply added together like this:

126.90 + 1.0079 = 127.9079 g


So 1 mole of Hydriodic Acid (HI) weighs 127.9079 g. One can't exactly weigh out 100 g of pure HI. HI is a gas. One can learn about other topics in chemistry to figure out how many moles of a gas are in a known volume at a known temperature and pressure. See Ideal Gas Law.

Many gasses are measured as a % weight dissolved in a liquid. That's where the 57% HI comes from. 57% HI means that 57% of the weight is HI and the other 43% is water. If one has 100g of 57% HI, then one has 57 g of HI gas dissolved in 43 g of water. The moles of HI can be calculated from these numbers. Hypothetically one has 100 g of 57% aqueous HI, and we know the molecular weight of HI is 127.9079 g:
100g HI solution x .57 = 57 g HI in solution (for 57% solution)
57 g HI / 127.9079 g per mole = 0.446 moles HI (in 100 g 57% solution)

We could also say that there are 0.446 x 6.022x10^23 = 2.69x10^23 molecules of HI in 100 g of 57% HI, but this isn't realistically as useful as moles. Most chemistry folks just calculate reactions based on moles, not molecules. See the next example.

Lye + HCl Neutralization (NaOH + HCl => NaCl + H2O)

If 6254 molecules of NaOH reacts with 6254 molecules of HCl to yeild 6254 molecules of both H2O and NaCl, who cares? We know that 1 mole of NaOH rects with 1 mole of HCl to yield 1 mole of water and 1 mole of Salt (NaCl), and that is good enough.

For the following reaction:

NaOH + HCl => NaCl + H2O


We can calculate the correct weights of each chemical to exactly react everything. This is a primary use for calculating moles. As the reaction shows, the molecules react on a 1 to 1 basis. 1 molecule of NaOH for each Molecule of HCl. From the periodic table:

Molecular Weights in grams
Sodium (Na) = 22.990
Oxygen (O) = 15.999
Hydrogen (H) = 1.0079
Chlorine (Cl) = 35.453


One thing you should know at this point is that the weights we are pulling from the periodic table are actually called atomic wieghts because they are for atoms, not molecules. Anyway, from these atomic weights, the molecular weights can be calculated.

Molecular Weight Calculations (rounded to 3 digits):

NaOH has Na x 1, O x 1, & H x1:
(22.990 x 1) + (15.999 x 1) + (1.0079 x 1) = 39.997 g per mole

HCl has H x 1, & Cl x 1:
(1.0079 x 1) + (35.453 x 1) = 36.461 g per mole


So for a 1 mole reaction we need 1 mole of NaOH and 1 mole of HCl. The NaOH is easy; one would just measure out 33.997 g of NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide). The HCl (Hydrochloric Acid) isn't as simple because it is a gas. HCl can be found at most hardware stores as a 32% aqueous solution. Since we need 36.461 g (1 mole) of HCl we must calculate the weight of 32% HCl that contains 36.461 g (1 mole) of HCl. Here is how it's done:

36.461 / .32 = 113.941 g


So 113.941 g of 32% HCl.aq containes exactly 1 mole or 36.461 g of HCl. The rest of the solution is water. This means that there will be an extra 77.48 g (113.941 - 36.461) of water added to the reaction, as well.

The product of this reaction, as shown at the start of the example, is 1 mole of NaCl (Sodium Cloride, Salt) and 1 mole of water + the additional 77.48 g of water added.

H2O Molecular weight: (1.0079 x 2) + (15.999 x 1) = 18.015 g


The additional moles of water added at the beginning (with the aqueous HCl) is calculated like this:

77.48 g H2O / 18.015 g per mole H2O = 4.30 moles H2O


So the product of this reaction is really 1 mole of NaCl and 5.30 moles of H2O. Most of the NaCl would be dissolved in the water. This could be written as:

NaOH + HCl + 4.30*H2O => NaCl + 5.30*H2O

Atomic WeightsSodium (Na) = 22.990
Hydrogen (H) = 1.0079
Phosphorus (P) = 30.974

Molecular Weights
NaH2PO2: 22.990 + (1.0079 x 2) + 30.974 + (15.999 x 2) = 87.978
HCl: 1.0079 + 35.453 = 36.461
H3PO2: (1.0079 x 3) + 30.974 + (15.999 x 2) = 65.996
NaCl: 22.990 + 35.453 = 58.443

For 1 mole, each

87.978 g Sodium Hypophosphite in 50% solution
87.978 x 2 = 175.956 g of 50% NaH2PO2 solution

36.461 g HCl in 32% solution
36.461 / .32 = 113.941 g of 32% HCl solution (muriatic acid)

Yields
65.996 g of H3PO2 in water.

For 50% H3PO2 in water:
Reduce weight of water to 65.996 grams (about 66 mL)


In reality, reduce it to 50 mL or less, filter salt, and add back water to 66 mL to avoild a salt saturated solution

How To Manufacture Meth -- True Iodine Recipe

No lies here folks this recipe will manufacture methamphetamine this will get you into trouble if you do this BE CAREFUL!

First of all let's talk about supplies:

    1 Case Regular Pint size Mason Jars ( Used for canning)
    2 Boxes Contact 12 hour time released tablets.
    3 Bottles of Heet.
    4 feet of surgical tubing.
    1 Bottle of Rubbing Alchohol.
    1 Gallon Muriatic Acid ( Used for cleaning concrete)
    1 Gallon of Coleman's Fuel
    1 Gallon of Aceton
    1 Pack of Coffee Filters
    1 Electric Skillet ( If you don't know what iam talking about i will have pics later)
    4 Bottles Iodine Tincture 2% (don't get the declorized it won't work)
    2 Bottles of Hydrogen peroxide
    3 20 0z Coke Bottles (Plastic type)(with Lids/caps)
    1 Can Red Devils Lye
    1 Pair of sharp scissors
    4 Boxes Book Matches (try to get the ones with brown/red striker pads)
    1 pyrodex baking dish
    1 Box execto razor blades single sided
    1 digital scale that reads grams
    2 gallons distilled water \
    1 Roll Aluminum foil tape

That's what you would have to go buy if you wanted to make meth.

First things first -- the Iodine Crystals. Take one 20 oz, plastic Coke Bottle and pour 4 Bottles 2% tincture into it.

Add Hydrogen Peroxide to this. Use only 1/2 a bottle of Hydrogen peroxide. After this you know, the gallon jug that the Muriatic acid comes in take the cap off and fill this cap level with the acid. Add the acid to the coke bottle (Place in a freezer for at least 30 mins).

While the Iodine crystals are being made we are going to extract the Phsuedo from the Contacts. You are going to need a towel for this so go get one. Take the pills out of one box, add it to one of the mason jars fill with rubbing alchohol just enough to cover the pills let set for 3 minutes. Remove pills and take the towel and wipe the top coating off the pills this will remove the wax. Do the same with the other box of Contacts as well, after this add those wiped off pills only 10 to a clean mason jar. On top of this add 1 bottle of Heat do the same for the other box of Contact. Let theese two mason jars with pills, heat stand for 30 minutes. Then shake the jars till pills are completly broke down then let the jars sit again for 4 hours or until the Heats is completly clear . Once clear cyphon the heat off (Not the powder stuff at the Bottom you don't want this it will fuck your dope up).

Well anyway syphon the heat off with a piece of the sergical tubing syphon this into a pyrodex baking dish place in microwave on high till the heat is almost evaporated. Take out of microwave. Now plug up your electric plate set the pyrodex dish on this on about 180 deg continue evaporating till you get a white powder on the pyrodex (Carefull not the burn the phsudo if it turns yellow it's burned) after you get it dried take a razor blade and scrape this powder up. (put this asside for later use)

Now we are going to get the red phosphorus from the book matches take a pair of scissors and cut along the edge of the phosphorus do the whole four boxes of match book matches then take 1 small coffee cup will work to this coffee cup add about 1/4 the way with Acetone dip the match book strike pads into the acetone for 10 seconds this will loosen the phosphorus so it will be easier to scrape with the razor blades. ( put the phosphorus in an empty match book box to let dry. Now it's time to get the iodine crystals get a clean mason jar on top of this place 1 coffee filter and pour the contents of the iodine +muriatic+Hydrogen Peroxide into the filter ( do it slowly don't over pour) well once you get though with the filtering on top of the coffee filter will be a black substance ( This is iodine crystals) dry them by wraping in more coffee filters till you get a pretty good thick pile around the original filter place on ground and step on it to get the rest of the liquids off save this for the cook.

next take your digital scales wiegh your pills first say you had 2 grams of pill powder then weigh out an equal amount of iodine crystals then for the phosphorus devide the total weight of pills by 3 3 will go into 2 1 time so if you had 2 grams pill powder you should have 2 grams iodine crystal 1 gram phosphorus Now its time to make the cook jars you will need 2 clean mason jars with lids 1 foot surgical tubing poke a hole in both jar lids place one end of the tubing into each jar lid and seal with foil tape (buy this at walmart for about $ 1.60 well anyway seal off the tubes as well as you can so you should have 2 mason jars with lids that have surgical tubing foiled taped and sealed. ok this is the cook in one mason jar add distilled water in it fill it half way close the lid on it. now get you hotplate hot first at 180 degreese F when the plate get hot then its time to add the Iodine+pill powder to the other mason jar not the one with water in it once you get both Iodine and pill powder to the jar add 6-10 drops of distilled water to this place it on the hotplate now add the phosphorus once you put this in the jar there is going to be a imediatereaction place the other lid with hose onto the jar screw on tightly then turn your hotplate up to 400 degrees f let this cook for 1 hour to an hour and a half the best way to tell when it is done is when the contents of the cook jar doesn't boil anymore once this has happened turn the hotplate off and let the jar cool so you can touch it now its time to see if we have dope once it has cooled open the lid and you should smell rotten egg like smell if it has this smell congrads you have dope now we have to remove the dope from the black goey substance to this jar add about 1/4 cup of distilled water and seal the jar with a lid that has no holes in it and shake the jar till all the substance on the botom of the jar has come off into the water

next take another clean mason jar and place a coffee filter and filter the cook jars contents though the filter now on the filter is your phosphorus save this for another cook later on just putt it in a dry coffee filter and put it somewhere dry and safe now you have a jar filled with a yellow honey looking substance if its this color you have done good at cooking the dope now to this add colemans fuel fill the jar about full just leave anough room for shaking now add 1-2 table spoons red devil lye let the jar sit for about 5 mins then place lid on the jar and shake the hell out of it then sit the jar somewhere to rest for about 30 mins Now we are going to pull the dope out of the coleman fuel and the product is going to be 90% methamphetamine to do this fallow what i say exactly syphon the coleman fuel into an empty 20 oz coke bottle syphon off much as you can trying not to get the substance off the bottom of the jar once you have the coleman fuel in the coke bottle add about 4-6 coke bottle caps of water to this now add one drop of muriatic acid to the coke bottle place lid on bottle and shake the hell out of it place upside down so it want fall and get your hotplate hot 400 degrees f on top of the hotplate place a clean pyrodex bowl on it now take the coke bottle still upside down and loosen up on the cap let the water drain into the pan don't get any coleman fuel into the pyrodex bowl now the water will evaporate while it is doing this take a coffee cup add acetone to it fill it 1/4 the way up now once the water has dried on the plate take plate off with gloves and add a small amount of acetone to the pyrodex bowl it will sizzle swirl it arouund and if all works out good ther will be cirle crystals all over the pyrodex bowl scrape up with a razor and enjoy Methamphetamine :-) This with 2 boxes of Contacts will make anywhere from 2-3 grams meth....
