If you had to commit one book to memory or risk it being lost, what one would it be?

Besides religious works though, I can't think of anything we have now that can't be rewritten or replaced entirely by something else.

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn or The Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway. Either one because they're both such concise, visceral works of literature and the world needs more of that and less turgid, Rowlingesque crap.
