Title: What do you Seriously do When you Almost get Caught?
Post by: aYoungKing on December 02, 2014, 09:29:56 am

Like what if you did a car hop? The heat is on your trail because you're a newb and fucked up...oh what's that? The cops knocking on your door. Shit. What now?

Most people here would most definitely be scared enough to believe the cops when they say they only want to talk to you and blurt out everything or enough for everything to come falling down. Or freeze up, and seem super nervous to arise suspicion, thankfully the 2nd option will not get you in trouble with the cops.

Has anyone here actually committed a crime and almost got sent to the slammer cause of it? How did you react to po-lice/authorities when you got confronted? If you had a second chance to redo any interactions with the cops what would you do differently? Did you ever keep your cool when talking to the cops about something that can get you into serious trouble?

During SWIM's early days as a shoplifter, SWIM had forgotten to take the source tag off of SWIM's recently stolen XBox. SWIM did not get caught as SWIM dumped the evidence, ie: the box & console in a nearby bin. As this was from an early Big W, SWIM wasn't charged as police couldn't prove SWIM took it. SWIM succeeded in obtaining the XBox but didn't shoplift again at said Big W for around 4 years.
The End
Lesson: SWIM played it cool and didn't say shit that could identify SWIM's name, address, school etc.
If needed, make up a fake name ie: Jeremy, Frank, Jackson etc. NEVER and SWIM means NEVER shoplift within a mile of where you live. If you Americans are banned from the local Walmart, don't say I didn't warn you when you have to drive a couple miles out to buy toilet paper. If you're caught, stores WILL pass on information to other stores so let the heat die down before trying again. Sometimes stores remember you for YEARS, especially if the same employees still work there.

*I do not advise shopłifting as it is a very illegal and dangerous business*

Once while fishing a fish and game warden was giving me a hard time. He peered into my trucks window and saw all my guns. I had bought them private party and did not know for sure whether or not they were stolen (I know now that they are all clean).
He says "these aren't stolen are they? Mind unlocking the truck so I can run the serials?"
I said "Not at all!... If you go and get a warrant!".

I have steered away from shoplifting. Way too risky. I miss the adrenaline tho

I've never lifted anything bigger than a few donuts and a maybe a soda or something. It does seem like something I wouldn't want to do, way too much trouble involved and way too much skill required for little rewards. Someone probably could make a living on it though, and it can yield good rewards from time to time depending on what you get and your location plus time of year.

I fail to see how that's worse than county/city police. It's just a jurisdictional thing. When you are brought up on charges from local cops, the state is the one pressing charges anyway, not the county. Federal charges are not inherently worse than state charges, it just has to do with whose jurisdiction you are under. You can get a federal charge for an unpaid parking ticket outside a federal building, for example.

I'd prefer not to be in their database.

lol, you sound like a fool. You don't think the gubment has access to state arrest records and vice versa? They're all on the same databases that both can access, either lexisnexis or NCIC, just to name two.
