they did the same thing with alprazolam here, recently

justification was that the majority of lethal depressant ODs were apparently heroin + xanax

ER doctors in the hospital I work at are pissed about it too. Now there are no more standing or verbal orders for hydrocodone preparations, they have to sign a script for even a single pill. They are complaining that it is taking them away from patients, but really, it's just causing them more work.
