Title: My laptop says, "Keylogger detected" WTF
Post by: ngalo1983 on November 21, 2014, 01:46:47 am
I logged into my laptop & the first thing that pops up is keyloggers detected. I never download or click on links on that laptop. Anyway free way for me to get rid of it? I already know not to log into anything or my shit will get hacked.

It's malware on your machine pretending you have a keylogger. Did the presented screen offer you to fix it or to send you somewhere to fix it?

No. Right when I started my laptop is said keyloggers detected. No ads or anything then it just disappeared.

Yeah I agree with spec, if security software actually detected malware it'd usually give you options as to what to do with it, and it'd be obvious that an antivirus application YOU installed detected it.

that's a popular scam, usually a browser exploit will infect your computer with malware that reports all sorts of threats (that aren't really there) and redirects you to a page where you can buy software that'll 'clean' them

I'd completely reinstall.

First I'd actually boot Linux and backup certain files.
