No rather someone clicked a button that gave you a notification to think about what you are saying. That's literally all an infraction is. No, what's sad is supposed adults that click buttons on a control panel as some vengeful way to "get back" at someone, all because their feelings and ego was hurt in some stupid online debate. In theory the purpose to a moderators job is to maintain forum integrity, yet all wrongful moderating does is initiate even more drama and idiocy. Meanwhile, posters like Bling Bling are encouraged to spew their incoherent drivel, while out the other side of Arnox's mouth he supposedly "cares" about the quality of threads and the forum as a whole. Hypocrisy at its worst.
And the anvil metaphor wasn't trying to compare the "pain" inflicted, instead provide a simple example of someone that is innocent and just going about their day and what happens when they unfortunately come across an inept dolt. If they don't have the courtesy or awareness to understand or acknowledge what they did wrong, I'm only too eager to put them in their place and give them a simple lesson in common sense. Walking down the street, driving down the road, just navigating a shopping cart in a grocery store.....if some dickhead doesn't have graciousness and remorse after they did something stupid while stepping on my or anyone else's toes, they absolutely WILL hear about it.

What is wrong with making people calm down a little or chill out when they get out of hand? You still have the ability to post when you are frozen which is a hell of a lot more lenient than a majority of websites.

For those that didn't see, it was Jay Cutler after he threw his 3rd interception in a game, and his offensive coordinator was trying to talk to him after so many mistakes. Problem users are users who have demonstrated that their intent is to go beyond saying their piece and systematically posting in a way that affects a majority of other users. Examples of this kind of posting would be spamming, harassment, constant incoherent and/or nonsensically illegible posts, derailing threads and ban evasion. While some users may just be rowdy there is a difference between them and the problem users. The problem users have progressed to to exhibiting the aforementioned behavior on a constant basis. And I want to make it clear that problem users are not shit posters. I would think its safe to say the majority of users enjoy this site because of the atmosphere. The idea that you can say whatever the fuck you want and you don't care what anyone else says is a core tenant of this site and that atmosphere. When problem posters enter the picture that atmosphere evaporates.
Lets be realistic and acknowledge the fact that a singular malevolent user has the ability to at least temporarily delay the functions of this site in cases like DDoS attacks, mass spam attacks and harassing other users in legally questionable ways. The purpose of the infraction is to help ensure that users do not engage in this behavior. It is a friendly way of saying "Hey knock it off". One infraction really isn't a problem at all. Neither is two, three even five over a reasonable period of time. But two or three in a matter of a couple hours or even days shows that the user is question is not going to knock it off. Excessive display of the aforementioned behavior shows that the intent of the person behind that account is more than just saying their piece and not giving a fuck what anyone else says. It shows that their purpose on this site is to detract in every way they can. When that is the intent as operators of the site your a fucking moron if you refuse to remove them even if its just temporarily. That gives all parties a period to cool down.
