I see all these operating systems that are based on Linux like Ubuntu, Mint, Debian, etc., but I can't figure out where to download the main Linux OS. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

apt-get source linux

Best way is use Rapidshare Search..

Oh yeah, that looks super legit. Not like there are reputable distos with public FTP and HTTP servers around or anything.

Also I'd like to point out that what you're looking for is actually "The Main GNU/Linux OS"

you're fucking retarded
cuz it's not like the distros are freely available from the distributors or anything, it's a much better idea to use a sketchy 3rd party site with mirrors all over the world that can be compromised
stop posting. You are retarded

Well individual distros are often found on their websites. If you want ubuntu go to their website. Places like distrowatch provide a nice hub where you can get quick links to distros and information about distributions or development.
Every distrobution of linux is based off the linux kernel which is essentially everything you need for an operational operating system in a nice little package. On its own the kernel is not a complete operating system so if that is what you are looking for you will not find it.
link proved for where to get the linux kernel and more info:

I always get them from the respective websites. They all have hashes and shit too if you are paranoid.
