This Halloween season I feel like I saw more propaganda on the internet about choosing a costume that isn't "racist" or "offensive" than I ever have before. Now, I'm not saying that its okay to be genuinely racist. I would consider it to be in poor taste if someone wore a KKK costume or something involving lyncing. I also think its a bad idea to wear black face and dress like Aunt Jemima.
But this Halloween has left me more annoyed than ever. I have seen numerous "warnings" against dressing like a Japanese Geisha. People describe the Geisha costume as "Yellowface" because somehow they think that the Geisha costume mocks Asian people. They say the same thing about dressing like a Native American and wearing a headdress and face paint
I'm left wondering, since when did Halloween become a comfortable and inclusive Holiday? I think for most people Halloween means wearing a silly costume while you get drunk with your friends. Halloween has never been about promoting the civic good and fighting racism. Moreover, why are we attempting to "sanitize" Halloween. Halloween is about horror and gore. Feeling uncomfortable is the exact meaning of Halloween. Yet, I say this with a bit of irony because nobody actually takes Halloween seriously in that sense--at least, I thought nobody did until now.

I haven't heard anything like that. Where'd u hear it on the news? Would explain why I haven't heard, the news is fucking gay. Case in point, your OP.

I get that vibe too.

It's the bullshit safety measures that get me. Curfews and the like are ruining the spirit.

I didn't see anything like what the OP described. If anything, I've been hearing more racism and prejudices from my social circles and media than in recent years.

Cops driving around with the cherries and berries on. Wtf? God I saw sooo many cops when I was copping my dope today.
-
I wasn't sure if all the cops around today was a product of the recent Giants victory or halloween but yeah, it's weird seeing a police officer on every corner. Also fucking annoying that it doesn't keep drunk methed up white trash from pulling a knife on me, jesus christ.

A friend of mine is always trying to get my brother to go as a Muslim terrorist of some sort. He's dark Mexican with an unkempt lumberjack-style beard. Costume would be a turban, robe or something and fake bomb strapped around him. Complete with like a cord leading to a menacing looking button in his hand...
It seems like a bad idea to me, but he keeps pushing it and some year it might happen.
-
Yeah, that seems ill advised all things considered. Maybe funny sans the bomb, just a bad decisions with.
