several months ago I bought a package of 2-lbs of butter for $4.xx. a few months ago it had gone up to $6.xx. last month it was $8.xx and earlier when i went shopping it was $9.xx.
what in the holy merry fuck is the justification of this absurd price increase for something that is basically milk.
i stopped buying butter when it went up to $8 for 2-lbs and wont be buying it again until it goes back down to $6.xx. considering how theyre price gouging, shoplifting may be a good course of action to stick it to the man

Where im from you can get a pack between 2 and 4 bucks depending on brand. I use coconut oil a lot but I find it is more expensive.

For truth tho my mom was bitching about the price of sour cream yesterday n I said the same thing about it being a milk product. She said milks been going up too but usually the supermarkets will keep certain brands on sale because ppl will really bitch about milk prices since it's considered a basic necessity.

i use it but not in the same things i use butter in. it definitely doesnt have the same flavor and texture

no, its not that...its that the price has increased so much its ridiculous. everything else goes up a few percent to maybe 50%. butter has more the doubled in price

Have you considered switching to a non hydrogenated vegetable spread? It's the same consistency of butter, a little less savory tho.

ive tried several different types...they all taste like ass
i used a little bit of canola oil on my spaghetti tonight to keep it from sticking together. normally i use half a stick of butter but primarily for the taste, secondarily to keep the spaghetti from sticking together
