The UK is to refuse to launch rescue operations for illegal immigrants drowning in the Mediterranean because it might encourage more people to attempt the dangerous crossing from Africa.
More than 100,000 have reached Italy since the turn of the year and some 2,000 have died trying, according to the UN refugee body UNHCR.
The Italian mission in the Mediterranean is being wound up after rescuing tens of thousands of people, but Britain insists offering help will act as a 'pull factor' to others to seek refuge in Europe.
This is a bittersweet announcement from the UK Government. I consider myself a Tory albeit generations of my family have lived under the auspices of Labor's false promises and weak leadership. They are to blame for letting the filth slip through the net. David Cameron has risen amongst the mediocrity of his peers and shown himself to be an independent thinker that speaks his mind. If he manages to pull us out of the EU away from all those other spastic, sub human shit hole countries that have a say in everything we do i will praise him more.
