I'm 27 too and I don't have a promising career yet and may not ever, so I feel ya on that. I do have a 2 year old daughter though..  Nothing wrong with being yourself as long as you don't harm others Is the way I see it.

I'm of a similar age, and I choose not to start a family.  As long as you can find happiness, who cares?

I'm of a similar age, and happily without kids at this point. Me and my fiance have simply chosen to wait till our 30's and we have all out finances in order before we start churning a few out. It seems like you get on social media and for the past 4-5 years its been people popping out kids left and right.. I'm not judging.. But I'm sure you know similar people, women with multiple kids from different fathers, people who pawn off their kids on their parents and continually reproduce more, people having kids when they can't afford to sustain themselves let alone anyone else, etc.. I don't know. When I do finally have some children of my own, I'd like to think I'll be a very active parent and want to do most of the raising myself.. teach them morals, honor, and certain life skills that are vanishing from modern society. I don't want to have kids until I'm in the right financial position to do them justice.. If you wait on having kids your setting yourself up better as far as a career, more time to acquire a stable living environment, and that extra life experience/maturity to hopefully be a higher quality parent.

30 is the new 20. people are living longer and getting married later than in previous generations. nothing wrong with that.

we should start a 27 club where we all talk about being familyless careerless losers

When I was younger, I always said I probably wouldn't live to be 27.. Now that it draws nearer, I'll admit.. I get a little anxious sometimes remembering to have said it.. Still hoping they discover how to make the human body practically immortal within my lifetime.. And that I'll have amassed enough wealth to afford it.

Cobain, Morrison, Hendrix, Jones, Joplin... I remember when that Winehouse chick died, they found record somewhere that she also feared dying at 27 so.. not in my favor, what is.. I never became a famous musician.. And I'm not sold that Winehouse should be in the club, but I've never really listened to her music.. just heard the rehab song.. It was terrible.

I'm 27 too.  I have a family and a career, but I definitely don't look down on people who don't.  Some of my friends are still single, live at home with their parents, and don't have jobs.

What's with all the 27-year-olds?

Almost 27 crew checking in. Seriously though, I get shit for it all the time being 26 without kids/no college degree/no plans to go to college, no career etc...

I say just do what makes you happy and forget what everyone else thinks.

How the fuck are we all 27? I'm used to seeing 16-24 year olds on sites like these.

Also, you don't have to live up to anyone else's standards but your own. Fuck everybody else. Focus on what you enjoy. Not what they enjoy. Plus, it's completely trivial to try and tell someone "what life is all about".

I'm 26, have career in electrical industry, own brand new car, own a house, no kids, hot girlfriend,  stopped doing so many drugs.  But I'm kinda depressed because ... now what?

Now you find a way to be happy without all of that.

I've stopped doing drugs for the most part, and I know how you feel.  My life has gotten so much better, but I still miss the drugs...it's just not the same without them.

I'm 26.  Happy in general tho I do wish I had more going on in my life right now.

Would love to live a minimalistic life as the buddha did, just doesn't seem feasible in America today.  Trying to maximize happiness with as little as possible.

I never thought I'd survive past 27 either (31 now, yipes). No drugs, but I keep pissing people off so much that they keep trying to kill me.

A friend of mine heroined herself to death right after turning 27. I've heard astrological explanations for this phenomenon where the return on Saturn around 27-28 years of age occurs.

Or people see those junkies as some type of hero and decide to go the same way.
