"Why buy the milk when you can get the cow for free".  And I thought its meaning was some kind of financial wisdom, lol.

it is actually. The German economic philosopher Herr Karl Van Heigengutenheimer first proposed the concept in 1887 during the financial boom in the United States.

If you buy the cow, you control whether the milk is free or not.. Err.. In a way.
