Colorado police are warning parents that sweets laced with marijuana may end up in children's Halloween trick-or-treat bags.
The state was the first in the US to allowed recreational sales of the drug to adults earlier this year.
Experts issued pictures of two nearly identical gummy bears - one infused with marijuana concentrate and one without - and said it was almost impossible to tell the difference.
Police have also released a video warning parents some sweets may not be all they seem and they should check the products are made by well-known brands, throwing out anything that appeared tampered with.
Sergeant Brett Hinkle from Denver police's marijuana unit said: "Apples, gummy bears, there's a ton of different edible stuff out there on the market that's infused with marijuana."
Anti-drug activists say kids' favourites such as Sour Patch Kids, Pixy Stix and peanut butter cups have all been found in Colorado infused with potent marijuana concentrate.

Pretty low messing with kids like that, weed is harmless I know but why waste good shit on people who won't enjoy the high. Basically give all your cannabis infused food to me and I'll eat that shit.

Yeah your most likely right. I remember being told stupid shit like this as a kid and wondering who the fuck is giving out free drugs? 364 days of the year you tell your kids DO NOT take sweets or talk to strangers then Halloween comes along and it goes tits up.

Yea, I don't see anyone wasting their weed. I would bash this as more anti-weed propaganda, probably promoted by that one sect of Coloradan's (have no idea of how they actually define themselves) that wanted to secede and form two states because of their anti-marijuana views.
Worst case scenario, some angsty anarchist teens try to pass off some thc laced candies for shits and giggles. I've known teenagers to do much much worst.. we were all that age at one time. But even they, who really wants to waste their own weed?
