Inb4 thread fills with ghibli studios shit. Remember, series movies from a show can be included too.
My favorite anime movie has to be grave of fireflies. Jesus Christ was that an emotional wrecking ball.
-
I have that one sitting on my hard drive, and haven't gotten around to it yet. I haven't seen many anime movies, so my favorite is a Ghibli one, and I'll just leave it at that.

You haven't gone to bed yet?
Anyways, you may have noticed I played Spirited Away yesterday for a few minutes before someone changed it. Miyazaki is such a great creator. You should check him out

I'm in bed, laptop died through and I never feel like plugging I in. I'm actually gonna sleep after this though, or try to. Yeah anything by him is gold. Spirited away is really damn good. I couldn't say it's my favorite though. I kind of have a thing for animes based in like, the real world or at least worlds that tie into the real world and spirited away is a bit out there. I liked princess monoke or whatever a lot though, love the message behind that one.

Yeah, I liked Mononoke better than Spirited Away too, but I think my favorite Miyazaki movie (that I've seen) was Pom Poko. Even though it was fucking depressing, and had giant tanooki testicles all over it.
-
I haven't watched Mononoke yet
-
Go watch it now. (Couldn't sleep)

I just finished The Wind Rises a couple days ago. Good stuff but a little sad.

Yea, I'm a big Ghibli studios fan.. Can't help but to love that animation style and the oldschool feel. You sit down and watch one of those movies and it really is an experience vs. feeling like you watched a cartoon. Princess Mononoke is easily in my top 5.. Spirited away is up there too.. Howl's Moving Castle... and just to add some diversity I'll throw in Wolf Children (non-ghibli) and The Girl who Lept through Time.. Probably not my real top 5, but all I could manage to come up with in the mooment..

I have actually only started watching amines over the past couple of years but I have to say that most of the time its a Ghibli studios film, the last amine that I watched was Up on Poppy Hill. The first anime that I ever watched was Princess Mononoke and it continues to be a favorite! I recently downloaded The Wind Rises and plan to watch it soon.

Just added The Wind Rises and The Girl Who Lept Through Time to my download queue.

I've actually had Grave of the Fireflies for over two years now, and have yet to sit down and watch it. Idk, if I sit down and watch and anime that turns out to be tragic or sad without me having prior knowledge, I find it beautiful and tend to enjoy it for life. But, since I've known that GotF has these qualities wthout having watched it... I just cant get myself in that mood where "I think I'll sit down and watch this depressing anime that will probably make me sad".. I'm sure that makes sense. And I know I'm probably missing out.. meh, maybe one day soon.

I watched The Girl Who Lept Through Time and let me just say WOW, you will love it!

Ugh, Ponyo. Maybe I'm just used to amazing stuff coming out of Ghibli, but I found that to be very disappointing.

But is Ponyo! It's the best freakin movie to ever come out of Disney's ass!
