Fact; when unbolting a toilet from the floor, don't try to loosen the bolt with a hammer. You WILL have to poop in a bucket until you get a replacement.

The plan was to replace the toilet anyway, so wasn't especially careful about keeping it intact. It sprawled into a mess involving rotted floorboards, bad original plumbing, and assorted other disasters. A toilet replacement turned into a bathroom remodel with little warning. Hell, when the walls came down, I found that the wiring was bad too...

That's why I don't even start projects unless I know I have enough to completely redo if needed.
