Title: DHS Fraud
Post by: theKit on October 06, 2014, 03:29:06 pm
So my girl's lawyer told her today that she'll probably get in trouble for fraud with DHS because I've been kinda living with her on and off.  I didn't think it would matter because we don't share income at all. I'm pretty much just keeping my shit in her basement and sleeping with her then going to work. I'm guessing it comes down to the 'how many people living in your household' question, she didn't claim me but doesn't that SAVE the state money? When she originally applied, I didn't have a job, I didn't have any of my shit here and I was just fucking her and going home. How is DHS going to get into a tiff in this situation? What are the consequences of DHS fraud?

Depends on what state it is, but they may total up the amount of benefits that she allegedly 'defrauded' and bring a criminal complaint.  If it is over a certain amount, the charge will be a felony.

edit -  wait, her lawyer told her that but didn't tell her what would happen?  What kind of fucking lawyer is that?

divorce lawyer, it was only brought up because her faggot husband is going to use it against her most likely. I don't see how DHS can make a claim for defraudment when there was no financial gain from not listing me on her application. She got the same amount  of assistance she would have gotten if I were not here - unless they're going to claim she supported she should have been given more funds due to having an extra person to feed.

They will probably try to make her pay for whatever housing assistance she has received, because she signed a statement saying that no tenants will be allowed in the housing.  They assume that subletting situations are occurring.
