ITT: unstable matter provides citations for his claim that AirVPN keeps logs.

You seem like the last guy who would be into computer shit.

IIRC it's their data retention practices, not server log keeping but its sketchy enough that many people stopped using them early this year after torrentfreak put them on blast and took them off the "good" VPN list.

Stuff about this is pretty easy to find. At the beginning of the year there was a big post on torrentfreak about a sketchy situation involving someone who used airVPN but it was kinda circumstantial so I guess they took it down but I'm sure you could find an archive of it.

>not using mullvad
what socks5 client do you use BTW? If you use A client instead of THE client and even have to ask you're a fucking n00b who probably can't even rewrite the .conf file in proxychains correctly

Rejected due to insufficient evidence.
AirVPN still reigns supreme as the most secure and private VPN provider.

oh my god, keep living in denial until the RCMP come knockin. Google it yourself idgaf
there are so many better ones, lol, you're just cheap
also, using a VPN as an exit node, lol. I bet you don't even use THE socks client, I could literally have a Nepelese IP right now and there are like 3 computers in that entire country

you can't say this and not provide citations

Citation: Ur mom told me, or maybe it was some blog post on torrentfreak that got revoked because it was spreading FUD.
-
plot twist: nobody gives a shit and you wouldn't get arrested anyway

lol, you're mad and can't afford $30 a month
airVPN has sketchy data retention policies, iirc they're based out of Italy which is where the EU's data retention servers are kept too. Just use Mullvad like someone who didn't lern2whonix yesterday

Air still has the best security on paper: OpenVPN exclusivity, 256 bit AES-CBC for data encryption, 4096 bit RSA keys and DHE key exchange. Mullvad is using 128 bit blowfish FFS, and 2048 bit RSA which has been broken for some time now. I need to see actual evidence of the alleged sketchy practices before ditching a technically superior service.

yeah, 256bit AES is kinda necessary, the actual VPN I use as an exit sometimes (not mullvad although it has some good features as well) only has some with 256 AES, I don't put much faith in RSA keys at all, I just know there's no chance Mullvad is going to give up some logs, I'm just paranoid about airVPN, as I said I used them for a month like a year ago then switched. I really only use ones endorsed by torrentfreak and only after reading their privacy policy. I dunno, I guess even if there were sketchy data retention practices it'd still be alright to have open on host. configuring openVPN's on xubuntu is fucking retarded, I'm gonna make kali my host because even though xubuntu is "light" it's gay as shit

seriously, if you were doing anything where a VPN is a must, why would you trust your security/anonymity to a single point?
I don't bother with stuff like that most of the time, but it's always best to assume your provider DOES indeed keep logs and monitor activity.
-
yeah I think it makes a lot more sense to use a socks5 as an exit point but some people haven't lernt2chain

I use a VPN primarily for torrenting, and to prevent my ISP from sniffing traffic and logging DNS requests while casually browsing. For serious anonymity, Tor is pretty much mandatory.
-
Always best to use a prepaid hotspot, registered with fake info, on a separate PC, for anything illegal. Add TOR to that, as well as shattering hard drives and getting a new hotspot every six months, and you minimize the chances of getting caught and well as destroying evidence.
