California will become the first state to allow family members to ask a judge to temporarily seize guns from someone who is suspected of posing an immediate danger.

Fuck sakes....

Can't wait until people start calling in over disputes over the dishes. Why not use California to its full potential  USA, it'd make a perfect toxic waste and sewage dumping ground.

Seems like it's already full of shit and stupidness so why not add to the pile.

California is a shit hole. Someone needs to start reverse-secession procedures against that fucking place. Kick them out of the US

I've had family members shoot themselves following periods of obvious emotional instability.  You can say what you will about rights and personal freedoms, but this really could save lives.

Yeah, if they can't get ahold of a gun, there is absolutely 0% chance that they will use a knife or exit bag instead.

Those means are less lethal, and people are less likely to go through with them as it gives them more time to consider what they're doing.  The exit bag especially takes a great deal of premeditation, but even if you've sliced your carotid artery open chances are you will survive if you decide to apply pressure and call 911.

Look at the stats in australia after they banned guns. Suicide via gun went down. Suicide via hanging went up commensurately

out of curiosity...where does one apply pressure to stop a severed carotid artery...

It also contradicts several constitutional amendments, and will be abused often

Carotid artery is especially tricky, which is why I used it haha.  Can kill someone trying to save them.

If Californians were meant to own guns, they'd be Texans.

I hope every red-blooded American reads this news story and stockpiles an arsenal. We must leave hidden arms caches all over our neighborhoods, parks public swimming pools, malls, elementary schools ect. We MUST exercise our god-given constitutional rights to bear arms at ALL TIMES. We must get firearms into the hands every American man woman and child.

Guns make great gifts for your friends and loved ones. Weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, baby showers.....Guns liven up any social gathering. Impress the gal on your first date by showing her your CC, she is sure to feel safe and at ease in your presence. Quickly unholster your weapon during your interactions with the police and show them you are ready to aid them in their fight against crime. Honor your country and your Commander in Chief  by discharging your weapon in front of the White House while saluting the flag.

The fact that States gave up their State sovereignty to the Federal government on things such as Highway repair funds, gun control laws, FFL transfers and a multitude of other things shows that it's more than just a handful of states.

If your carotid artery is cut, go ahead and put pressure on it to try to stop the bleeding.  Your brain will still receive an adequate blood supply from the other carotid and the two vertebral arteries.  All four of these arteries that supply the brain join together in the Circle of Willis, so occluding any one of them won't matter.  On the other hand, if both carotid arteries are cut, that's a very serious problem as the vertebral arteries alone cannot supply the entire brain with blood. The best option here would probably be light pressure to try to reduce the bleeding and hope that you can get to a vascular surgeon before bleeding out.

I agree about Commiefornia and their idiot gun laws.  One of the minor joys of living in western Colorado was knowing that California was downstream every time I took a piss.
