at barnes and nobles do they put security tags on every book or the expensive ones i have seen them in some manga
when swim saw the fantasy books they did not have them? so are they inside the binding of the book or what?

manga and fantasy? Kill yourself immediately
At Chapters they put the sensors a few feet away from the door with the checkout aisle usually along the same side as the entrance so you can pay for something small then walk out with a few books down your pants

the expensive ones, yes. sometimes more than one sensor. ive never seen one in a cheap paperback novel book but i do see them in random average priced books. i buy a lot of computer-related books there and a $40 book wont have one but a $20 book will. my guess is the clerks randomly add them to most books, but always add them to the expensive ones.

ok well what i am trying to ask is that the more cheaper books like less than 10 dollars will they not have tags?
-
Look through the pages and on the back, it should be wedged in there somewhere.
-
I just realized I helped contribute to the proliferation of manga and fantasy, what the fuck
-
I like sci-fi/fantasy, but Manga... that's out. Screw you for proliferating.

no one can answer that. a clerk might have been bored that day and had extra tags so they inserted it into some seemingly random book.
-
also would the staff put a tag inside of the book binding like when you put it on its side or would it be too much effort to put it inside

If its possible, of course
The only way to know for sure is to look for yourself
-
also are security towers able to detect tags that you enter from the outside of the gates like for example there are two towers but instead from leaving from the inside you leave from the side that only has one tower
-
You will know if this 'line of work' is for you or not, based on how you react when the door alarm goes off.

Depends if theyre rfid or the regular kind
Regular kind...yes, but they cant differentiate
Rfid...yes. Although they may not be able to 'talk' to each other (rfid and tower)

Where I live in colorado we have tatterd covers which are like B&N except no security gates even. i used to steal and sell textbooks but it took to long for not enough money so I gave it up.
-
well does anyone got anything so say about this?
-
You should be ashamed of yourself.

You should be ashamed of yourself.
Yes, but this is Bad Ideas after all so no comment from me.

The towers do not differentiate direction of travel, merely when an activated tag is close.
