Title: What's this decade called?
Post by: Soso0 on September 30, 2014, 12:21:57 am
We have 70s. 80s, 90s, etc but what is the 2010-2020 decade called?

For those of you  who have been alive for at least two decades or more what was your mindset when you were younger. Were you told the world in general was going to improve?  And if so has the future (now) fulfilled your expectations of what you thought the world would be like in the future.

I am asking this because as a kid I had that image that the world was going to become a Utopia. Now I am trying to figure out if I was some way indoctrinated to think that way or it was just my imagination running wile as a kid. I always thought things were supposed to get better with age. But after 20 years of existing on this world I have figured out that this is not the case and that in fact it may possibly be getting worst. Unsure if that's because lately I've just really been trying to learn about what's going on around the world. It's possible that due to technology we are now able to  cover stories easily as opposed to pre internet when people could only get stories from newspapers or news channels. I do hear a lot of people say how there is much more crime compared to the 'old' days but then I remember how most of the general population is just full of idiots lol

I think I went off on a tangent there lol

I don't think it could get much worse without going past the tipping point.

My generation grew up with "Back to the Future", we expected flying cars.

It's funny, I watched part 2 where the setting takes place 1 year from now and one of the only things they predicted correctly was Skype with the television conference calls. Everything else is just super absurd like the hydrated pizza and numerous fax machines around the house.

I knew 10 years ago that technology would soon enslave us all and send society into terminal decline.

So I enjoyed the hell out of my adolescent years while they lasted and now I'm just waiting around to see the imminent destruction and chaos.

idk technology is okay I think. I feel the answer to life however ia copious drugs and much meditation and socialization, but my parents seem to take issue with me being a hippy

I remember people thinking that they are progressive because of what year it was, like we were living in the future so things should automatically be different. For example, "Come on, it's 2014 for crying out loud (or FFS for you trendy folks). We should already be xyz." The present never seems to be good enough for what we hoped it to be in the past.

I don't really remember being told to expect the future to be a certain way. I grew up thinking that I had better figure out how life works if I want to make it, and that's not because my parents told me to think that way. I say your life is what you make it to be, so I expected to get from the future what I put into the present. The past is only used to prevent repeating mistakes, though I hated history classes.

Though I didn't expect the future to be grand, I am a but disappointed with how some things are going in society, but I'm also impressed at other things.

All in all, learn from the past, make goals for the future, live in the present, and most importantly, take time to enjoy the little things in life.

Is it the technology that has impressed you?

A few things I'll add about this decade an improvement in rap music compared to the 00's and though the country is going downhill a few more people are opening their eyes but at the same there are many that are blinded

that's because no one wants to focus on or talk about the real big deals. the media hides everything of importance.

The teens.

The nature of global politics was defined and cemented in 2001 (9/11) and 2003 (Gulf II). I, and milllions of others who protested, knew that the outcome of Gulf II would be a clusterfuck that would define our position in the world for decades to come.

00 - 10 Where's Bin laden
10 - 20 Durka Durka everywhere
20 - 30... Durka's under the bed1
30 - 40 Look everyone we've created a new bogeyman!
40 - 50 Where's the bogeyman hiding...

1) You think the TSA shining a torch up your ass is bad now. Wait until a combination of 'big data' and 'in order to further secure your freedom from Al-Qaeda-on-steroids ISIS' every citizen is further pointlessly scrutinized simply for existing.

That's the problem with 'progressive' politics, there are no end goal(s), we just keep 'progressing'.

The bullshit never ends.

You misunderstand the situation Rizzo. It's consumer demand, not corporate conspiracy or incompetence. Very important to understand this in order to properly grasp large aspects of human society.

Afterward, think of the implications, the chain of effects throughout this process. Stay away from Marx if you want to actually understand economics.

Things are getting worse, minorities have more rights than ever for a start. Miscengenation is more accepted which makes me fucking sick, and we no longer blame niggers for anything bad that happens.

That's in 2036 over 2 decades from now you 6% of a subsaharan nigger. Africa's had shit tier growth everywhere except very few places. The US took out the leader of the country in Africa with the highest standards of living and turned it into a failed, terrorist state, destroying any chance of the gold backed African currency and a north/south african union. There are so many fucking wars and territorial desputes going on right now, sudan, mozambique, congo, CAR etc. etc. etc. and life is so meaningless over there they're really no threat.

Some good ol sweatshop colonialism would be very beneficial for getting them into manufacturing which has resulted in the biggest levels of sustainable growth. If they put down the AK's for a second and stop hurling shit at each other long enough to develop the clump of mud that's been bestowed on them they'll be fine.

Jews have been trying to divide and conquer ever since they saw a penny roll into Egypt. Body ever jew on the continent and watch things get a lot more civilized

Bart, aren't you familiar with the reality of racial differences? Human biodiversity, there's now a small community of good writers on the subject and many people interested in it. Africans will never be equal.
