Title: What are the best RPG's on PS3?
Post by: iskalla on September 28, 2014, 07:47:41 pm
I've only played the fallout games, but I'm generally into emulation, currently playing stuff like Romancing Saga 3 and Chrono Trigger. What games should I look for on the PS3 that would inspire me to start console gaming more? I like turn based JRPG's more than D&D type games.

Did you play Skyrim?

My friend has Skyrim I haven't played it before but he said we should do a playthrough sometime soon. I've played Neverwinter Nights I think that's the closest thing I've ever played to anything like Skyrim.

It's from Bethesda like Fallout and it's basically the same thing but with Dragons and knights instead of Apocalypse and mutants.

It's great when it runs properly, which it won't, but anyway. It's also not from 2013 but 2011 so don't expect any graphix "Wows".

Oh ok, you like turn based stuff more than D&D.

Skyrim basically is D&D in digital.

Not yet mentioned:

Tales of Graces - Good but soooo much dialogue and cut scenes.
Disgaea 4 - Good, very deep in structure and there's sooo much post game content, but the same types of isometric maps throughout.

I like the look of both of these, think I'll order Tales of Graces.

Planning to get back onto PS3 once I have something new to play, still on PSX in the meanwhile. I'm trying to complete Alone in the Dark: Jack is Back. It's one of those games I can't imagine anybody actually finishing.

Ah another one is "Ni No Kuni". It's very nice to look at and has tonnes of stuff to do and see. It's a little kiddified but still great.

I came in here just to post that game. Nice to see other people liking it.  8)

There's also Dragon Age: Origins

It's like Neverwinter Nights except the story is better and the gameplay blows. I'd recommend Neverwinter Nights and its expansions more than I would Dragon Age honestly but DA:O definitely has its moments of awesomeness.

Dragon Age was cool, but I liked the PC version better than the console version. The battle system was quite a lot better.

Still looking forward to the new one. Picking it up on launch for the Xbox One.  :)

I don't know... With Neverwinter Nights, because of its direct usage of the D&D system, it had a bunch of different ways you could approach combat and class-building. Furthermore, if you were playing a Wizard/Sorcerer, there were TONS MORE options as welll because of the utterly massive amounts of awesome spells you had at your disposal. 100+ spells actually. It was really something. Also, I didn't have to babysit party members nearly as much and I only really had to watch my own gear for the most part. I really liked that.

Nope. Only on the PC or the original Xbox. But you don't want it on the original Xbox or on a PS. Trust me.
