Played wow from vanilla to cataclysm, guild wars 1 and 2, eve online, and a bunch of other MMO's but still always go back to runescape. Its sorta how I jump from one major drug to another every 8 months or so but always come back to cigarettes at the end of the day. Anyone else feel this strange love for such a horrible game?

Doesn't it have microtransactions and shit now? I played from 2001-2006ish and probably wouldn't recognise the game now. Last time I signed in, pvp had been removed from wildy (LOL) Varrok town centre was dead and my favourite world was effectively gone and the number allocated to an American server. That was when I decided to leave for good and not look back since I didn't want to taint some of the brilliant memories I've taken away from RS.

Not sure by what you mean by microtransactions, but yea the game has changed quite a bit since I started back in 2004. The biggest thing was probably the revamp of the combat system, which still sorta sucks. Oh and they still keep a copy of "old skool" rs online for the vets. If your memories of the game are mostly good then I'd keep them that way, my personal opinion of the game seems to be deteriorating by the day now. Its still my fallback though and I can't leave it

I heard they added a store where you could buy in-game items for real world money. Considering how bad gold farming and the black market has always been in RS I suppose it's just about forgivable in this case though.

Yea but its almost all just decorative stuff like outfits and BS. A few nifty things like extra bank space but thats about it. They did come out with these things called bonds which are in game items that give you two weeks of "membership" time. you can buy them in game for a fair bit of coins, or pay $5.00 of real money. Same thing as the PLEX's in eve. A lot of MMO games that are p2p (pay to play (in this forum) ) are starting to come out with these items to stop the gold farmers.

I still sometimes miss it a bit and play the 2007 version, plenty of fps memories and I just couldn't get behind the 3.0 version. I feel like it's just trying to be wow

Once I get a new laptop I'm planning on trying Runescape again. What sucks is that I don't remember the password of the account I made make in 07 it was my best account ever too. How should I go about recovering it?

lol Runescape was (I don't know if it still is) a great game..I was too young for it, though. I cried in pm to some guy who killed me out in wildy. he gave me back my gear :D

So I was finally able to recover my seven year old account today only to find out that it was permanently banned earlier this year for macroning. I was so excited get my account back after all these years too. It's just odd how late they decided to ban me. I do remember botting non stop and bought gold a few times but that was back in like 2011/2012 and haven't played since. Hopefully my appeals get accepted

Year if the offenses are over a year old they are usually pretty cool. Oh and put in the appeal text that you wanna start playing a lot again and will probably subscribe to membership, they dig on that from what I can tell.

My Characters name was Coresant, but I havent looked it up or logged in, in a while. I'd probably sell the account for the right offer.. I believe I had 99 wcing, and some other fairly decent skills..
