Title: MSR605
Post by: SBTlauien on September 26, 2014, 02:49:22 am
I bought a msr605.  Is it worthless?  Should I send it back?

Can I make a copy of my debit card?

It's bigger than I thought it would be.

I don't know anything about this subject. Explain please.

should have done research before blowing $130 on a machine you don't know how to use.

Just made a copy of my card, went to store, used the copy to buy an item.  Easy as fuck.

I'll send my full name, SSN, and DOB, as well as address, mother's maiden name, previous job history, bank account number, routing number, current check number, all login details, my driver's license, and some of my utility bills.

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I don't really think that all of that information is relevant to the debit card testing.  In fact, I think that you should be more careful in safeguarding your personal information, because there are nefarious types afoot.  However, for testing purposes, I will need a copy of your debit card and your PIN.

Sure thing!  :D

Is there a reason this won't read from certain cards?  I have this one card for clocking in and out at work, which probably only has very little data on it.  The card isn't special in value or anything, but I can't read it. The brand of the machine is Kronos.

Is there a reason the copy of gift cards is not working?  Is this a bad model to get?

Having a comrade who can readily scan customer's cards in a smaller portable model makes the msr605 so much more valuable.

Use a proper magstripe reading program not the bullshit that originally comes with the msr, if you still can't dump the tracks shoot me a pm

These two comments are basically pointless comments, and neither of you are proving anything by your trolling.  Obviously I bought it for learning and experimenting.  It was only like $120, so it's not really a big deal.  But it does work for some things, like my ATM card, so I like it so far.

I am using TheJerm version 1.78.  I can write the data(track1 and track2) to the cards that came with the MSR(the stripe on these are a bit taller than the ones on my gift cards and CC) successfully, but I can't write data to my Walmart gift cards without getting an error and, what appears to be, corrupt data.  However, the data can be written to other cards.

Could Walmart have somehow embedded a security feature that prevents people from writing to their gift cards?

Here is an idea: get an international credit card, get track 1 and 2 with your MSR605, send me the info, I write the info unto a blank card with my MSR605, I use the card, you report the charges as fraud, it gets written off as fraud, we split the profit.

pretty decent machines, the software that it ships with is ok to say the best but they work well and do the job
