Been fishing all my life but only in rivers and lakes. Never in the sea but I'd love to. I get sea sick like a motherfucker, though.
-
I fish from time to time, but 90% of the time in local streams, where if you eat the fish you will get rashes n shit, and no one is surprised when they occasionally drag a fish out of the water that has five eyes and glows in the dark. My city has the emptiness and boredom of the midwest, but the toxic pollution of new jersey.
-
I live basically smack dab in the middle of a local fishing hub. There's so many lakes around my place that you could walk to about five different lakes if you wanted to.
I only go out once in a while though. too much work to do at home most of the time but ever so often I'll pull out the boat or cast off the shore. Pretty much all of the lakes around here are fishable and what you pull out is good to eat.

Sure, Utah has plenty of great fishing spots.

mash you dick in the booty ass nigga

I do lots of fishing.
With a line or with a spear.
Freshwater and saltwater.
My favourite type of fishing is combination fishing/hiking, where if I catch fish I eat less of my supplies and extend my survivability time, which is less sport fishing and more related to survivalism.

Ever hear of those yo yo reals they sell? Something like 6 for $18 and you just hook em up and wait for a fish to set it off.
Might be something to think about as they're pretty light weight and it'd extend the amount of lines you have out.
You can also make snare rigs for fishing with a little bit of line, a knife, and what you have around you in the woods.

For survival fishing I find a big stick that floats and tie the line and hook to that and bait it.
Chuck it in the fishing area. The fish will exhaust itself trying to swim away/swim deep and the line will not snap due to too much tension nor because you have run out of line on your reel.

caught a flattie on a squidgee the other day. first time i've caught anything on the soft plastics in a while.

My friend likes to phish. He used to go out dumpster diving at accounting offices, small dentist offices, the DMV, and employment staffing agencies. He only found a few SSN and other personal information.
He once set up a fake job listing on Craigslist, set up an account at a paid phone number spoofing service to disguise the number as a local employment staffing agency, made an editable PDF application that looked like it came from the staffing agency, and then replied to any emails he got about the job by calling them and telling them that he wants to interview them but he needs to first get their application so that he can do a background check(basically pressure them to do quickly), and caught some SSN along with other information.
He's gotten much better catches in the sea of the internet via penetration testing.

Have you tried those scopolamine patches? They've done wonders for me in the past fishing out of Westport.

I like to fish but don't get to do it alot... which is sad considering I live less than a mile from a river... I think its just cuz I don't like the taste of most fish...so when I do catch them I usually turn them loose at the end of the day...

I didn't even know scopolamine patches exist. Thanks for the tip.

I haven't locked the target, baited the line, slowly spread the net or caught the man in some time.
I have traditionally used a small modern fishing rod with 6lb line with a two foot trace below the sinker and small suicide hooks. A small rod makes landing fish of any size far more exciting, and the rod is typically much more sensitive especially with a hollow glass tip. I fish estuary and bait a strip of old bay mullet using a little bit of the rubbery stomach as a sort of cork on the hook to keep the strip of flesh from being sucked off the line by non desirable and undersized fish.
A little spray of aniseed does the trick in attracting Bream.

I live on the coast and fish off of our pier or beach when the weathers nice. Mainly catch cod and mackerel which are both nice fish to eat. I rarely go river or lake fishing as I have no license to do so.

You like Mackerel? Trooper. They can be very strong on the palate.

It's an acquired taste and is really rich IMO, I either eat them fresh on some toast or freeze for bait.

Caught my first mangrove jack the other night. Got snapped off under the rocks by one earlier on but managed to land this one with the help of a friend later. Shit was hectic.
