Title: What's the deal with nicotine?
Post by: Max Headroom on September 20, 2014, 02:27:21 am
Nicotine is a drug that I can't get my head around, I don't know if it's the interfering action on nicotine receptors that makes smoking on DXM instantly get rid of all my muscle rigidity and clears my nostrils, making me feel instantly different, or the alkaloids in tobacco. Also I started using nicotine patches a few days ago and it is the best nootropic by far I've ever used. But still has the unpleasant side effects of headaches and making everything too clear. Anyone else use nicotine for therapeutic reasons?

Bro what ? Smoke a cigarette. The only therapeutic effects from nicotine are the little buzz you get when you light one up.

I smoke, I'm just trying to quit. I haven't gotten any buzz from cigarettes since one time I went on wellbutrin, right after I stopped taking it I got a huuugggeee fucking buzz.
But nicotine does have thereapeutic use, wonder why so many schizophrenics smoke? the α7 receptor activation helps positively with schizophrenia.

Anyone else use nicotine for therapeutic reasons?

I use it to help improve focus, reduce stress, increase awareness, etc. Has quite a good bit of benefits, they are looking more and more into using transdermal nicotine delivery systems for medical things aside from smoking cessation.

Like N0 W4RNING said E-cigs are the way to go, all of the benefits and none of the risks. I try to convert every cigarette smoker I know. It's also cheaper. I use a 16 mg/ml e-liquid.

Nicotine is a nootropic and doesn't seem to have significant negative side effects on its own. It doesn't even seem to be addicting without the MAOI's in tobacco.

I want to try it once the MAOI I'm on fully kicks in, it may enhance it: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20936688
