I feel the importance to spread this speech everywhere I go and I beg you to invest 20 minutes of your life listening to this man. What he says in this video saved my life a couple of times and surely made it more worthwhile living it.

I have yet to read that myself but the readings of DFW on Youtube are all great. He was a great mind for sure.

Here's him reading a collection of short stories. All are magnificent and worth listening but at 30:45 the most disturbing thing I've ever heard or read starts, "Incarnations of Burned Children".

Yeah, everyone has those realisations at some point, but it definitely helps to have them so clearly articulated.

Dropped by here from Rusty's thread. I remember watching this many years ago. While I'm not a hippie, this guy touches on one of the fundamentally best pieces of advice you could ever get. At least I think so after around two and a half decades spent on this ball of rock. When you look around and think how others are living through the same thing at the same time, it starts being kinda funny, so all the problems you are having dont seem as important. Since theyre not important anymore, you're left to ask yourself, what really is important to you? Then you start getting that and people treat you like a weirdo but you're so happy, you can't give a fuck.
