For those who are wondering how to explore your extended settings on your own:
- click the 'profile' drop-menu at the top
- either click 'profile' again or click one of the menu fields displayed (summary, account settings, forum profile)
- from the new profile settings page, click the 'modify profile' drop-down menu

From there, you will find several fields that will allow you to edit your settings. Popular options to review include:
- themes (look and layout)
- email alerts/notifications (notifications)
- show quick reply by default (look and layout)

I always assumed that people would familiarize themselves with their settings before complaining about a lack of them. I assumed incorrectly.
