Title: random facts you ken share about food
Post by: jerome on September 05, 2014, 01:33:47 am
any random facts you know to share with us?

a few weeks ago i found out greek yogurt is nothing more than strained plain yogurt! i felt so betrayed, this whole time i thought there was some special greek recipe to making yogurt haha. but now i know what to look for when buying good quality greek yogurt, avoid any thickening agents companies use to speed up the process.

there aren't any official food regulations on how much air is allowed in gelatos in the U.S. that's why a lot of gelato shops are able to make really bad gelato incorporating way more air than there should be.

when there's ice cream that has too much crystallization it's mainly because the makers haven't used a proper balance of stabilizers.

grapes, pineapples, pomegranates, and a lot of citrus don't ripen after being picked.

Pineapples definitely ripen after being picked. Buy one that feels unripe. Let it sit for 2 weeks on your kitchen table. LOL

I worked at Mcshits for over a year, idk how I lasted so long, and just found out that they only call them 'shakes' as opposed to 'milkshakes' cause they don't contain any milk.
