I have been apart of this community in one form or another since year 2000. I have seen an untold amount of members come and go as the years have passed by. I saw totse.com fall and Zoklet.net rise up. I've now seen Zoklet.net fall and seemingly The Sanctuary rise up. However, it's different this time.
I am not going to risk myself on a website that gets spammed with child porn on a constant basis and not to mention DDoS'ed on an even more frequent basis. I appreciate this staff's attempts to delete the spam as fast as it rears it's ugly head, but it's just not enough and there is nothing this staff or anyone else can do about the DDoS attacks. Sure, you can complain to the host. All that will do is take down their shitty website. The attacks will not stop. As soon as you open registration again, the child porn will resume.
I will not be apart of a community that is being targeted by debilitating DDoS attacks on a constant basis, making the website all but useable and waves of child porn where you're scared to click on any thread in fear you're going to be slapped in the face with that shit. Closing registrations isn't the answer, it's a bandaid that will temporarily fix the issue but it's not a long term solution.
I might give Mr. Orange's project a last, death throes try, but failing that, I am pretty sure I am done with this community altogether. When the community you've loved for so long becomes a liability or frustrating/irritating to try and use, it might be time to just call it quits.
Love you guys. It's been a wacky 14 years and perhaps it can continue on with Mr. Orange's project because this place...this certainly isn't it. Caio.

Actually, the DDoS attacks are done. I know that for sure. Contact Idio if you want the details. The only thing left is the CP spam which is already being taken care of, and no, I'm not just talking about the closed registration. But hey, if you wanna leave, that's fine. Seems a little silly though in my eyes.

Same thing happened when &z went down, a bunch of members made their own boards and divided up the community.
Then the smaller ones spammed and dDos'd the hell out of the others. That created even more division in an already crumbling community.
The last three months at Totse, the board was down half of the time because of the very same kind of crap that you've been experiencing the past few days, Jeffs TTFN didn't mention that. But the thing that killed that community was itself.
A strange and thoughtless beast that burns down it's own house, then wonders why it has no place to live.
I ended up at zoklet because zok was the admin on &t and his site looked like it would last the longest, like it might keep and grow the community.
Five years later..
All of the zoklet users have received an email from me with a link to here (under the advice of Unwyred, psychomanthis and Infrared amongst others).
I don't know you Arnox, but it looks like your hearts in the right place. If you can handle the bandwidth and the necessary security upgrades, then have at it. If your panel has the option for manual account approval, that would be an option that could help you retain momentum with the influx - it's a fast environment we're living in, a lot of people will just move along down the line if unable to at least register.
After what happened to Zok, I'm just plain disgusted with the community. He got shit on by the very people he was providing a home for.
I've had enough of the headaches and hassles of tending a board, it's your turn in the barrel Arnox, good luck with it.

I dont know- I think we should give this place a shot. They seem like they are trying at least and while the registration thing is a bandaid- I am sure they'll figure something out that will work long term. Ive enjoyed some of your posts over the years (even as a lurker waaay the fuck back in the days of totse) so Id hate to see you go. Give it a chance instead of this dramatic foggoty thread.

Um you never did anything on zoklet except make one liner posts every once in a while and appoint shitty abusive mods (most of the time.) If you were active behind the scenes it really didn't show on the front end as the site had been the same stinking shithole it had been for years with literally NO change or improvements whatsoever. I don't know what kind of headaches and hassles you are talking about but surely you have never had to deal with anything of this magnitude.

Ever since Zoklet shut them down the community sought after some kind of home and identity amidst the chaos. Above in this thread you can see the signs of wear and tear on some member's posts. They've been going through drama withdrawl lately and they can't handle it.

I think everyone leaving because of the spam and ddos attacks is premature. If it continued incessantly or became an issue in the future I could understand people getting fed up and leaving, but it only happened for a few days in the very beginning and the admins now appear to have things under control.

I'm sort of just sitting back and waiting to see what happens. I've been weary of this community for a while but I'm definitely going to miss it when Zoklet is finally gone so I'll probably end up here as a regular unless something better comes along. I don't know Arnox but he seems to have his heart in the right place.
