That is if we haven't found a new forum already. He'll be back once there is no CP involved which is very understandable obviously. I hope Mr. Orange's mmmmq.net is going to kick off.

Why? What makes you think that his forum won't be attacked by cp and ddos? Does he even have experience in dealing with those things?

No idea but I certainly hope so. Maybe Mr. Orange knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy that can do something about it.

Eh, sounds like even more of a mess.

Some heavy damage has been done to the community

Agreed. The downfall of Zoklet lead to a break of 95/5 and the other unpopular 5% are trying to fuck it up for the rest.

So is that why he was freaking out, cause he knew CP would be posted here?

The easiest way to ensure no CP is posted is to disable hyperlinks and image posting.

That will of course be inconvenient to some users, but it is a small price to pay to not have to worry about it. It's also more simple than closing registration.

As far as the Dos attacks, I'll most likely be using a VPS with 1TB of transfer, so it would be very hard to take it down. For reference, 1TB would be enough to handle 1 million users a month. Since it will be hosted using one of my own VPS's, I'll be able to increase bandwidth at my discretion.

I think I'll be purchasing VBulletin 4 or 5 today, and I'll start constructing it soon.

Better make it 4. I've heard from so many people that 5 blows.

As to the CP. I think that's the least of our worries now what with total outages on the horizon.

I've been suggested 4 as well, thanks for the recommendation.

Yeah, I hope it's over for you as well. No one should have to deal with that shit. I think I'll be able to hard code some type of hyperlink approval system. That way the mods will be able to approve them as they come in.

If you don't mind me asking, how much data transfer are you using for this site? I'm also assuming it's shared hosting, correct?
